Surgical Deck equipped with noise control

June 26, 2012

The IRDC operating room Surgical Deck received an automatic noise level measuring system. During induction and termination of anaesthesia patients are particularly sensitive to noise. Supported by the company Dräger© in Lübeck the system SoundEar II was installed. When a certain sound level is exceeded a warning signal is issued. Experience gained on more than 100 surgical procedures show that the system significantly impacts the crew members working in the Surgical Deck. “There is less noise in the operating room,“ says head anaestetist Dr. Martin Wiegel. „The positive effect of a calm environment during induction and termination of anaesthesia are widely proved. SoundEar II is equally installed in the awakening room of the ACQUA clinic.
